What is the viewing distance of the LED display?
It is the distance from the screen where you can see a clear image. The image can become distorted if you are sitting beyond the viewing distance. There is a similar case when you are sitting too close.
As discussed above, viewing distance and pixel pitch have a close relationship. Thus, one has to select the pixel pitch keeping in mind the viewing distance.
What is the resolution of the LED display?
It is the number of pixels that you can display on a screen. We can show the resolution by two numbers, e.g., 1920 × 1080. It includes the width and the height. Two of the most common resolutions of display screens are:
- 1920 × 1080
- 1280 × 720
What is the viewing angle?
It is the angle from which you can see the display. And it is not the issue when you watch the LED screen and sit in front. But the picture quality is lower if you are viewing it off-center.
This angle determines what the off-center view of the viewers is. If it is wide enough, the viewer can enjoy a good quality view when not sitting in front of it.
The most acceptable view angle is 178/178. It is the widest viewing angle.
What is the refresh rate?
It can refresh the frequency of the image on the screen. It measures the number of times a new image shows on the display screen per second. We measure it in Hertz (Hz).
If we have a refresh rate of 3840 Hz, we can refresh our screen 3840 times per second.
A high refresh rate means a smoother image. For example, 1920 HZ is the baseline. Therefore, we consider any refresh rate higher than this as a high refresh rate.
Displays with low refresh rates only become a problem when we are going to record them by the camera. So, we recommend screens with high refresh rates for TV production.

What is screen brightness?
Unit of screen brightness is a nit. Nit is equal to candela per meter square (cd/m2). So, we can estimate brightness via nit. The higher the nits, the brighter the screen is.
Generally, the following values are present in the market:
- For indoor LED displays, it is between 500-1500 nits.
- It can go up to 4000-7000 nits or more for outdoor screens.

What is the contrast ratio?
Screen visibility has a direct relation to contrast ratio. The contrast ratio is the ratio between the brightness level of two shades of colors.
These colors are darkest black and whitish white. So, it is the ratio between these two shades of image and their brightness level.
For significant brightness differences, there is high contrast ratio. So, with high contrast ratio, we have better image quality. It will have darker shadows and brighter highlights.
